go get balaguru swamy's ansi C book,it has got a phonebook project in C with explanation for every function(some what similar to your requirement).once you get the idea of that project, try converting it into c++...Please give me the project of telephone directory in c++ with synopsis?

If it's homework, you need to do it yourself to earn your grade, but if it's for some other reason, I'm sure there's plenty of us out here who would be more than willing to assist you.
