It was also to appear online in the internet. I wouldn't pay monthly fees for the ad but would rather pay the directory company a sum of about $20 for every qualified call. They also required me to initially put down down payment of about $170.. This is what they call their "pay per referral call" plan.
Well when the directory came out, my ad did not appear in either their directory or online in the Internet (only the free ad that I created initially). I called my assigned representative to this large phone directory company and he seemed surprised at what had happened, only to say that he would call me back later that day after he had investigated my account.
Well he never called and I am using this time to see if I can be compensated in any way for their blunder. Please realize that my business was not doing well, and although I was a little skeptical about entering this kind of agreement, I realized I had to take the risk and do it in order to save my business. The agreement was for two years as I believe this is the directory's life cycle. I experimented with all the usual ways to earn a living, online surveys, ad-sense, typing and loads of different ways as well as hoaxes. It wasnt until I made a decision to try http://bit.ly/profits-now that my fortune seriously changed. I now earn a good income at home, not large numbers yet Lol... however constant income monthly.I signed up with a large, telephone directory to promote my business but the ad never appeared. First, most of these internet "directories" are a scam.
Second, be more proactive. They said they'd call you back - they didn't, so you're going to have to call them again.
If you have a signed contract for the ad, and they didn't publish it, either get them to refund the money to you, or take them to small claims court (you can file locally - they have to come to you.) You can include the money you spent filing the case ($30-50 usually) plus time you had to take off from work to show up in court in your settlement. No lawyers are involved - you show up, give your argument, the company gives their argument and the judge makes judgment. (it's like those TV judge shows - but without the hokey actors.) Oh, and the company doesn't show up, you win automatically...although if this is a scam outfit, you'll probably never see your money again - but you can turn the judgment over to a collections agency. You won't get nearly the full amount you asked for but you'll make the company's life more miserable.

They are in breach of contract. Stop telephoning and start writing because telephone calls can be misconstrued or even denied. State the agreement that you had with them, I would presume that you have paperwork on this. Tell them that they are in breach of contract and you want compensation. They propably have a clause in their terms and conditions restricting the liability, but at the worst you will get your money back. Give a time limit of say seven working days and threaten to sue. They will soon contact you. There is no complete reverse phone book for the UK. In the USA there are whitepages online that have a lot of information. You can normally trace a number back to an area by the dialling code, or try putting the number into Google and seeing what results you get.

You can try http://www.whitepages.ca or http://www.canada411.com but if you're looking for a paper telephone directory, you can get one by calling Telus at 1-877-987-8737 however I believe they only ship to Alberta or BC addresses. How do i go about looking up telephone directory information from white pages?
I am looking for the telephone number to my cousins Patty and George Williams in Murrietta, CA.How do i go about looking up telephone directory information from white pages?

Then you just type in their first name or even first initial, last name and location. You don't have to put in their city, you can use the state only; but if it's a common name you could end up with a lot of entries.

Antelope Valley Yellow Pages 2009 - 2010.
That's twelve cities and the surrounding areas.

Well, I just looked in the Yellow Pages, and there are 40 churches listed and not a single homeless shelter.
Correction...I found one shelter, but it calls itself a "Crisis Center", so I'm not really sure if it's a homeless shelter or not.
A Catholic, Lutheran and Methodist church and no shelter.
The rare homeless person to show up in our community is given shelter in a motel until the Sheriff can give him a ride to a shelter in the city.
The nearest big town (my town has a population of a 100 and only 2 churches) probably has 40-50 churches and 1 shelter (population about 10,000).

Uncle, the town in which I live boasts 534 souls. That's a mite small by any standards. Within 5 blocks of my home there is a United Methodist church, and a Pilgrim Holiness. On the street behind my house sits New Rehobeth Church, and just past that is New Hope. Less than a mile out the road are the Baptists, with the Jehovah's Witnesses perhaps half a mile past that. That's 6 churches in the immediate area, with three more before you hit the next nearest town going east.
Because I enjoy photographing churches (especially the old ones, even better if they have a carillon) I am aware of every church within 100 miles. On the road to the city where the first oil well in the US was drilled, there sit 23 -- count 'em --- 23 churches of various denominations. Another 15 are located between my home and the town in which I was born -- a town which is only 35 miles away.
I believe I've just detailed the approximate locations of 50 churches, which is ridiculous, considering this county has about 20,000 people. These 50 churches are not the only churches within this county. I am aware of 2 local churches (can't speak for those farther than 10 miles from my home) which provide meals to the needy, and which operate a food pantry. There are no food banks within my county, with the exception of those churches whose congregations try to do their part. The number of homeless shelters sits at zero.
That's zero homeless shelters, Uncle, and we do have homeless in my area. Would you like to know where the homeless in my area live? Burger King. There is a now-vacant Burger King across from our local Walmart and the usual array of fast food joints. It is here where the homeless pitch their tents. I'm not kidding.
As our phone book includes listings for 3 counties, I'm not even looking.

Well, I just looked in the Yellow Pages, and there are 40 churches listed and not a single homeless shelter.
Correction...I found one shelter, but it calls itself a "Crisis Center", so I'm not really sure if it's a homeless shelter or not.
A Catholic, Lutheran and Methodist church and no shelter.
The rare homeless person to show up in our community is given shelter in a motel until the Sheriff can give him a ride to a shelter in the city.
The nearest big town (my town has a population of a 100 and only 2 churches) probably has 40-50 churches and 1 shelter (population about 10,000).
Well in where I live aren't many churches i know only one but i am sure there are more..We have a lot of mosques cuz we are more Muslim land :\...
We have many homeless who live in the street we got no shelters :(

Uncle, the town in which I live boasts 534 souls. That's a mite small by any standards. Within 5 blocks of my home there is a United Methodist church, and a Pilgrim Holiness. On the street behind my house sits New Rehobeth Church, and just past that is New Hope. Less than a mile out the road are the Baptists, with the Jehovah's Witnesses perhaps half a mile past that. That's 6 churches in the immediate area, with three more before you hit the next nearest town going east.
Because I enjoy photographing churches (especially the old ones, even better if they have a carillon) I am aware of every church within 100 miles. On the road to the city where the first oil well in the US was drilled, there sit 23 -- count 'em --- 23 churches of various denominations. Another 15 are located between my home and the town in which I was born -- a town which is only 35 miles away.
I believe I've just detailed the approximate locations of 50 churches, which is ridiculous, considering this county has about 20,000 people. These 50 churches are not the only churches within this county. I am aware of 2 local churches (can't speak for those farther than 10 miles from my home) which provide meals to the needy, and which operate a food pantry. There are no food banks within my county, with the exception of those churches whose congregations try to do their part. The number of homeless shelters sits at zero.
That's zero homeless shelters, Uncle, and we do have homeless in my area. Would you like to know where the homeless in my area live? Burger King. There is a now-vacant Burger King across from our local Walmart and the usual array of fast food joints. It is here where the homeless pitch their tents. I'm not kidding.
As our phone book includes listings for 3 counties, I'm not even looking.

(ANS) In the UK it is NOT possible to run whats called "reverse look up's" this is due to the laws we have on privacy and data protection in this country. Meaning that you cannot find a persons phone number from their postcode or postal address even if you have those details. Or vica verse address from phone number.
**NOTE: Ex - directory means what it says on the tin, by definition the person has chosen to hide or not reveal their phone number to the general public often for professional reasons such as for example many psychotherapists are ex directory as they don't want to be called out of hours by their patients.
**In the USA the data protection laws %26amp; laws on privacy are completely different, I believe you can in some states run reverse look up's and find a persons location from a phone number.

Why don't they publish a phone directory of cellular telephone numbers?
It seems that, with the sudden rise of cellular telephones, almost as many, or even more, people have cellular telephones than have old-fashioned corded land line telephones. This makes it very hard to fine d the phone number of someone who you don't know their number. When almost everyone had land line phones, though, it was very easy to find someone's number. Phone directories for land line phones have existed for well over 100 years, ever since the telephone was invented. So, when will there finally be a comprehensive phone directory for everyone who has a cellular telephone number?Why don't they publish a phone directory of cellular telephone numbers?

It is not the name and address on its own, but certain documents (Utility bills etc) can be used to prove identity and address at a bank or building society to obtain a loan or open an account. Fraudsters then notify them of a change of address so that your name is still used but at a different address. This is often used to "launder " money obtained by dishonest means but also to fleece other people's accounts or obtain loans in your name. It would be a great help if Banks and Building Societies were to cross check with the local Polling List but this is not always the case.

The phone directory doesn't have your SS# where as some of your mail may have it. If you want you can choose to have an unlisted number. If someone really wanted they could still find out all your information even if you take all the necessary steps to protect yourself from identity theft.

Where are the places you can find and pickup a paper phonebook/telephone directory?
i would like to pick one up in a store, not order from the phone company and wait (as when you're in a new area and need a phonebook asap, besides motel or payphone)...but it seems hit and miss. used to go to grocery stores, but not finding them there lately. any suggestions? i've tried to search this through search engine but not finding anything so far. thank youWhere are the places you can find and pickup a paper phonebook/telephone directory?
If you really can't wait. Try some local apartment buildings. When they give out the new books, they pile dozens of them in the lobby area, usually near the mailroom. So if people want them, they can take them. They usually sit and collect dust for months, till they all go. Otherwise call the phone company. Good Luck!
