118800.co.uk was going to offer a mobile connection service. If you want to contact someone, you ring 118 800. If they have the number THEY ring it and ask if they want the call. It was never intended to make numbers available for junk advertisers.



Their website went down because of the volume of traffic from people wanting to be ex-directory. They have now suspended the service. The Information Commissioner's Office have pointed out that the service may be illegal since it uses information from telephone contracts and the individuals haven't given their consent to be put in a directory. It will probably come back as an opt-in service.
That's utter rubbish!



They aren't like landlines where you keep the same number for years.



Most people change their phone/number every 1/2 years so it would be impossible to keep the numbers in a directory.Mobile Telephone Numbers are to be made available in a directory.?
