What could be any possible errors in using telephone directories as population from which the sample is drawn?

You will exclude:

People without phones

People with unlisted phone numbers

You may also not get true randomness unless you have a verifed method of picking names from a phone book. What could be any possible errors in using telephone directories as population from which the sample is drawn?
you might probably exclude people who are just recent subscribers of the tel company bec a telephone directory is always outdated since it is released not on the exact time the list is created. u'll also exclude the people who have phones but are subscribing to other networks or telephone company.

@ matt:u can actually exclude people w/o phone bec u r abt to conduct a TELEPHONE survey!%26amp; there's actually systematic random sampling w/c is very efficient when u have a list of names OR cluster sampling to avoid long distance calls(which is more economical).. but i agree to your 2nd answer =D..
